Magic that depends on a lie is advertising’s oldest trick and its fastest way to lose the room. Direction that can be shown is stronger. Imperfection, labeled, often outperforms synthetic polish.

Direction includes what you are willing to be caught doing. Likeness, stolen style as a spell, fake documentary, undisclosed synthetic people in a trust category — the model will generate all of it cheerfully. The director is the one who does not.

Disclosure is brand, not only law

Jurisdictions differ. Audiences already detect “BS,” especially where the product is care, news, or money. Labeling synthetic work is often required. It is always a taste decision: if the brief was truth, a synthetic witness is a lie even when legal.

Style as theft versus reference with a job

“In the style of [living artist]” is a spell and usually a theft of labor. “Window light from the left, documentary, hour 9:20” is a function. Directors choose the second in public and the first only by accident when they are tired. Tired is not a defense.

Put it in the bible

No living likeness. No documentary claim if staged. No invented testimonials. The negative list can be ethical, not only aesthetic. If it is not written, the pipeline will not remember.
